Designed for reliable operation in extreme conditions, Hawkeye XP detects plunger arrivals from up to three feet away, and operates within a temperature range of -40°F to +158°F. Extensive testing has proven that even a slow-moving, non-ferrous plunger won’t slip by the eye of Hawkeye XP.
For utmost accuracy, Hawkeye XP allows its user to adjust sensitivity levels easily with a built-in seven setting dial. Lower sensitivity to eliminate false detects caused by nearby equipment or tools. Raise sensitivity to increase visibility of a plunger that doesn’t fully enter the lubricator, or to detect well movements caused when a non-ferrous plunger enters the lubricator. Hawkeye XP operates over a wide range of voltages, simplifying inventory management.
Hawkeye XP Plunger Arrival Sensor is protected by a rugged weather-resistant aluminum explosion proof enclosure. Two hose clamps are included for easy and secure installation. Hawkeye XP also features a built-in ½” NPT port to be used with an approved explosion proof rated gland.
Hawkeye XP is designed to be extremely low power. On average, Hawkeye XP draws less than 700 uA of current, fitting into all power budgets.
Hawkeye XP operates as a normally open dry contact. Simply connect the three wire interface to ground, signal, and power, and Hawkeye XP is ready to detect any plunger. Hawkeye XP uses a modern magnetic sensor chip as opposed to a traditional coil. This chip allows Hawkeye XP to detect slow-moving, or even static, plungers. Due to this magnetic sensing “eye”, the plunger does not have to fully travel past Hawkeye XP to be “seen”; allowing a wider range of mounting locations. This unique design provides additional advantages including the ability to control the sensitivity and provide a clean two second switch closure.
Hawkeye XP can be securely fixed to the lubricator or wellhead with two hose clamps tightened around heavy-duty ports on the upper and lower parts of the enclosure. Hawkeye XP may be left in the default sensitivity position, or adjusted to accommodate different types of plungers and lubricators, and adapt to an individual well’s conditions.
