SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

This is a multi-functional position within the company whereby the individual assists with various company-wide inventory control functions and will make purchases for all departments in addition to supporting the purchase of inventory. Additional responsibilities include compiling/running various system reports, auditing shipments, conducting cycle counts, maintaining accurate inventory, maintaining specified fields in the data base, and the purchase of various products to support sales and operational functions across the company. The purchasing and inventory control functions should support the business plans and the strategic objectives of the company.

REPORTING TO: Buyer/Planner

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Audit daily orders and shipments
  • Maintain daily shipment log
  • Compile monthly shipment audit report
  • Assist with the cycle count process becoming an integral part of the process; reconcile cycle counts
  • Work with company personnel to minimize cycle count variances
  • Researching discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Documenting and presenting findings with resolutions
  • Assist with annual physical inventory
  • Run weekly and monthly inventory reports
  • Prepare inventory gap and safety stock reports
  • Data base maintenance
  • Obtain supplier quotes as requested for non-inventory and inventory items
  • Maintain supplier quote files
  • Place purchase orders based on approved items
  • Expedite orders as needed
  • Determine method to process requisitions based on value, timeliness, and need
  • Examine and review requisitions for accuracy and ensure cost-savings are applied
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Minimum

  • Associates degree in business or related field
  • 3+ years of inventory control experience
  • 2+ years of buying experience
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English

Preferred

  • 3+ year of related experience in an office environment
  • Computer literate (Microsoft Word and Excel)
  • Experience with Fish Bowl Software or similar data base
